More than 60 people
and press attended the event. The agenda was
annouced on
this
page. The morning was dedicated to :
an
overview presentation of the project,
a live
demonstration of a
porter robot taking a passenger
from a pickup place to a drop place in autonomous mode,
with return to parking area at full
speed in tele operation mode controlled by the operator of the Mission
Control Center.

The demo was concluded by a question
session. Questions were mainly
about time to market ( from 3 to 10 years depedning on the public
demand) and costs of the system ( from 50 to 100K€ per porter vehicule
plus operational costs of the mission control center and
operator). In addition questions were raised about the introduction of
such autonomous devices within the airport infrastructures, and it was
concluded that both public and infrastructures have to "adapted".
The afternoon was dedicated to
more technical presentations of the
technologies integrated in IRPS.
There was also a video presentation of a testing demonstration of the
LIDAR sensor which is to be miniaturized in the near f uture.
